Manager, Government Affairs

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive government affairs strategy aligned with business objectives
• Develop and implement issues-based advocacy campaigns and support business development activities
• Develop proactive strategies to reach stakeholder groups in furtherance of public policy priorities
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with government, community, trade, and business leaders
• Work with lobbyists and outside consultants to develop legislative proposals and influence public and legislative policies
• Monitor and anticipate changes in legislative, regulatory, policy, and political environments
• Represent the company before governmental bodies and community and trade associations
• Prepare materials and make presentations to senior management as requested

Requirements

• 7+ years of lobbying, policy, and/or government experience working with regulated industries
• Proactive self-starter with ability to anticipate and avoid issues
• Knowledge and skills to build policies and procedures to support a growing business
• Ability to manage people and projects effectively and develop and train team members
• Flexibility and ability to respond quickly to shifting demands and priorities
• Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Excellent judgment and ability to handle multiple projects and set priorities
