Job description
The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for supporting the Controller and/or Accounting Manager in carrying out responsibilities of the Accounting department and preparing timely and accurate internal and external financial statements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform monthly close including reconciliations, analysis, adjustments, and financial statement preparation
- Perform cost and production analysis
- Perform inventory reconciliations and lead physical inventory counts when required
- Oversee system (MRP) health, workorder processing/posting, Bill of Material updates, Routing reviews and Inventory reconciliations
- Assist with expense control by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
- Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce company policy via systems that improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership when necessary
- Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement and professional growth opportunities
- All other tasks and job duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business/Finance strongly preferred.
Training
- Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and regulations of the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED); Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and TGS Management
- Must maintain current knowledge of and adhere to all policy and procedures of TGS Management
Preferred Skills & Experience
- 2+ years in progressively responsible financial roles
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage tasks in conjunction with all levels of the organization
- Strong problem solving and creative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
- Results oriented; high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
- PC proficiency and strong working knowledge of MS Office Products, specifically Excel
- Experience within a manufacturing company preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV
- Ability to task-prioritize with shifting workload in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
