Job description
As a Sr. Accountant/Accounting Supervisor you will report directly to the CFO and play a key role in building the company’s accounting department and implementing controls, processes and procedures. Our ideal candidate loves the excitement and challenges that come with a fast-paced start-up and is willing to roll-up sleeves and get in the weeds on mundane tasks as easily as tackling complex accounting issues and in conjunction with the CFO & outside CPA firms. You must be detail oriented, but able to work in a chaotic environment. You understand the realities of start-up operations and don’t impede operations, but aren’t afraid to implement, improve and enforce controls.
Responsibilities
- Manage AP and review vendor invoices (especially large inventory purchases) for accuracy.
- Reconciliations: Cash & cash application, inventory/COGS, revenue credit card and merchant processing statements to deposits (AR) & bank statements
- Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly close and prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare sales tax returns and payments, local tax returns and payments.
- Reconcile customer level sales receipts, close out daily transactions
- Financial operations: pay the bills, work with outside banking, insurance and tax vendors as well as local municipalities. Maintain corporate records and prepare financial reports for taxes, regulatory agencies and stockholders.
Qualifications
- 3-4 years corporate accounting or public audit experience. Combination of public/private a plus.
- CPA a plus, but not required.
- Full knowledge of entire GL and all financial statements (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow)
- Must be comfortable learning new software. Amuse uses several industry specific software programs for inventory and cash reconciliations.
- Payroll skills and use of common bookkeeping software is required, previous experience in accounting and QuickBooks or related programs

- Must be an excellent communicator and comfortable collaborating with a remote finance team and communicating via email, Slack, Google Sheets & Documents.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is absolutely required, as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, as well as Google Docs, Google Sheets
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- Ability to organize and prioritize effectively
- Compensation $75-$85k or commensurate with experience.
