Job description
SoilLabs is a rapidly growing soil, plant tissue, fertilizer, and water analysis laboratory. Our primary focus is on hemp and cannabis nutrition. The Soil Scientist / Lab Manager will run the lab and be responsible for evaluating and interpreting soils in order to understand soil resources and how they contribute to agricultural production, environmental quality, and human health. This role has tremendous upward potential and we are seeking a qualified individual willing to grow with the company.
Primary Responsibilities & Qualifications Operation and basic maintenance of carbon/nitrogen analyzer and ICP-OES/MS
Understanding of basic soil extraction techniques, including Mehlich 3 and saturated paste
Evaluate and interpret soils, plant tissue, fertilizer, and water data
Basic understanding of analytical methodology and techniques
Ability to speak to customers on a basic level about their data
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
Ability to work as part of a team, self motivate, and keep a positive attitude
Strong attention to detail required, along with ability to work independently and think critically
Comfortable working in fast paced environment
1-2 years of experience minimum in an environmental or agricultural laboratory
Relevant college degree preferred but not required
