Job description
This position will report directly to the Vice President of Compliance. The Senior Compliance Manager will assist, design and implement compliance programs and initiatives in Massachusetts. The Senior Compliance Manager will conduct internal audits and inspections to support corporate initiatives. This role will be required to interface with regulators. Specific job duties include but are not limited to the following:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop policies, strategies and procedures related to regulatory compliance in coordination with department heads, organization leaders and Vice President of Compliance; implement policies, strategies and procedures as directed
- Implement preventative measures and corrective actions in the event of compliance concerns
- Lead and conduct audits including development of work-plans, perform audit work steps, document and report findings, and develop and implement appropriate corrective actions
- Take a proactive compliance view of the organization and provide preventative measures to ensure the organization is compliant with all regulatory requirements
- Collect and analyze data to define and understand problems and perform research to identify root causes
- Evaluate and perform alternative procedures to make timely and appropriate recommendations as necessary
- Perform qualitative and quantitative data analyses to build presentations for organization leaders
- Interface with regulatory agencies to ensure organization is in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations
- Manage direct reports within the Compliance department to achieve success across the organization
- Motivate team members and represent the Compliance Department across entire organization with effective communication
- Establish and develop strong relationships across the organization, providing a consultative approach to communicate compliance initiatives
- Participate on regulatory stakeholder, industry and other relevant work groups at the discretion of the Vice President of Compliance
- Comply with regulations and requirements associated with health, safety and environmental protections
- Ensure the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment as required and report any hazards, accidents or injuries, as required by company policy
- Comply with regulations and requirements specific to the State of Massachusetts
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements (Education and Experience)
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in a compliance business setting required
- Seven to ten years experience managing direct reports and working in a regulatory compliance environment
- Previous experience interfacing with regulatory agencies
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Demonstrated ability to effectively train, manage and develop staff, enhancing their compliance knowledge
- Advanced computer skills and proficiency with MS Word and Excel
- Self-starter with ability to drive independent problem solving
- Comfortable working within a constantly evolving environment
- METRC state inventory system and FlowHub knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of cannabis industry preferred
