Job description
We are looking for a Retail Compliance Manager who will be responsible for ensuring that all Retail Compliance Supervisors (and their respectively assigned retail stores) are ensuring compliance with state and local ordinances, rules and regulations.
In this role you will be….
- Manage Retail Compliance Supervisors’ priorities to ensure retail stores and systems are in line with state and local compliance (with oversight of Supervisors in Michigan, Massachusetts and Missouri).
- Collaborate with Regional Directors and Merchandise Planning team to create and maintain compliance checklists for retail departments; ensure compliance is built into retail SOP’s.
- Collaborate with Regional Directors and Merchandise Planning team on discrepancies and coordinate the correction of errors through SOP adjustments or implementation.
- Works closely with Merchandise Planning Team, Regional Managers, and C3I’s Sales Team to ensure accuracy of reports, inventory, and retail systems.
- Manage the review and approval for marketing items for all retail markets stores including but not limited to, signage, promotional flyers, online advertisements, event marketing, etc.
- Ensure regular internal audits are conducted to ensure all retail stores inventories are accurately reflected; collaborate with Retail Supervisors and Retail Leaders to developing corrective actions.
- Be primary point of contact for all external audits for assigned retail locations; follow up on any outstanding items to ensure accuracy.
- Partner with the Regional Managers and the IT team to ensure all retail systems are operating compliantly.
- Monitor, and audit all data in the state required cannabis tracking system (METRC).
- Assist Director of Compliance and General Counsel on compiling documentation and required reporting for license renewals and license applications.
- Train and implement processes to ensure Retail Supervisors can collect required documentation for respective markets for license renewals.
- Stay current with state and local laws pertaining to operations and ensure compliance with such laws; update compliance documentation and processes as regulations and laws change.
- Collaborate with Retail Compliance Supervisors to educate all employees on state and local laws and ensure all processes and procedures align with those governances.
- Collaborate on developing employee compliance trainings for company employees and create training manuals that align with company SOPs.
- Regularly Correspond with METRC, and state specific governing bodies to seek guidance on law interpretation; document all correspondence.
Skills and experience you have...
- 5+ years of experience in compliance or quality control.; Cannabis industry experience is preferred, but not required.
- 2+ years experience managing and leading a team.
- Ability to read and understand laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- Excellent organization skills, ability to develop and implement operational best practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build relationship with internal and external contacts.
- Ability to travel to various sites throughout the country.
- Ability to use and manage METRC, retail POS (LeafLogix) and is Microsoft Office efficient, with ability to learn new software.
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately with regulating bodies.
- High attention to detail, and experience inputting and reporting on high volumes of data.
- Proven ability to establish strong credibility and build relationships and operate in an environment of ambiguity.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to obtain & maintain required state licenses based on work location.
