Job description
- The Marketing Manager is responsible for collaborating with the operations team to deliver a marketing plan for New York State, overseeing the delivery and execution of a marketing strategy to help achieve our business objectives in the growing medical cannabis industry.
- Design a marketing plan to expand consumer base and grow basket size
- Act as a liaison between NYCANNA dispensary operations and Acreage Holdings marketing
- Use critical thought processes as they pertain to increasing revenue and store initiatives through marketing programs
- Grow and drive NYCANNA’s social media by developing content to help accelerate our reputation state-wide and build a loyal following on social media.
- Develop an outreach program with each dispensary
- Collaborate with the Sales team to successfully execute our marketing strategy and programs for existing and new products / SKUs.
- Work in tandem with the corporate marketing team and operations team to ensure best practices are in place to deliver the best possible financial outcome from promotions
- Oversee implementation of our communications strategy - for campaigns, events, digital marketing, and PR - for both internal and external audiences
- Develop quarterly goals as they pertain to promotions, sales, and gross margin
- Demonstrate an effective understanding of marketing, advertising, and promotional activities to create, launch, and track performance of new products and campaigns
- Work in tandem with the cultivation facility on clear, concise communication as it pertains to inventory level and products to support promotions
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with Acreage Marketing team and NYCANNA dispensary team to create compelling marketing campaigns and events to help establish NYCANNA as the leading NY medical cannabis company.
- Help develop a marketing program establishing best practices for use of Data Owl, I Heart Jane, and other supporting cannabis websites
- Responsible for marketing project management including budgeting, expense tracking and reporting, and tracking key performance indicators for marketing
- Research all cannabis subscriptions and materials in order to make critical decisions as to the proper placement for advertising and partnership
- Manage creative production of online and offline marketing assets, graphic design, audio / video production, sales tools, collateral, ads and web site development from initial concept to finished product and execution
- Travel to each location to support marketing efforts
- Analyze products, services offerings and approach of key competitors; leverage the insights gained to communicate key points of differentiation for products and services to our dispensary customers /partners.
- Participate on weekly calls with stores and operations team to continue to develop and monitor local, state, and corporate-sponsored marketing efforts
- Act as a brand steward, upholding brand and trademark standards and consistency across all marketing projects and communication vehicles.
- Work in tandem with the team on the continuing efforts to improve signage and store marketing material
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Make recommendations on all local partnerships and ensure proper signage and placement of signage is following best practices
- Maintain compliance with all State MMJ Regulations and company policies and procedures
- Measure and monitor the success of promotions, making critical decisions to adjust plans as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Marketing required; MA preferred
- Experience in holding meetings to evaluate the success of marketing and promotional efforts
- Proven track record of success in marketing and creative roles with emphasis in social media
- Proven track record of success in working with/assisting in developing materials and supporting cannabis sites as they pertain to the wholesale program
- Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing or communications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in supporting wholesale programs, preferably including assisting/traveling with wholesale managers to locations first-hand to learn about them directly
- Experience in a startup company: healthcare, marketing preferred
Required Knowledge:
- Successful track record with demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in the design and execution of marketing/ strategy and communications.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe and various software tools
• Highly skilled and knowledgeable about social media platforms, digital marketing and engagement.

Other Requirements
- Must pass a state and federal background check (state mandated)
• Ability to travel to multiple locations within NY as necessary; must have reliable transportation
