Job description
The Finished Products Manager is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing and post-production activities within their assigned cultivation site. This role is responsible for end-to-end production, oversight of manufacturing activities, and product packaging and is ultimately responsible for ensuring high-quality production within assigned areas.
Manufacturing Management
- Oversees facility extraction activities and ensures they are conducted in full compliance with applicable cannabis regulations and Justice Cannabis Co. SOPs
- Oversees extraction, extract processing, product formulation, filling, and manufacturing activities in collaboration with the National Director of Extraction and ensures all manufacturing activities comply with applicable regulations, Justice Cannabis Co. SOP's, and OSHA safety standards
- Ensures production plan is executed in accordance with the Justice Cannabis Co. business strategy; and, meets revenue and production commitments within budget, plan, and time constraints
- Manages team using ethanol extraction, ethanol recovery, filtration, decarboxylation, degas, and distillation equipment
- Manages the production schedule to optimizes scheduling to ensure all consumables are ordered in a timely fashion
- Ensure all products are accurately labeled and are input into seed to sale system
- Creates and update SOP'S for current and future manufacturing processes in collaboration with the National Director of Extraction
- Implements, monitors, and performs calibration of all lab equipment by establishing and ensuring consistent standards of use
- Create maintenance schedule for all equipment and ensures all maintenance is logged and recorded
- Facilitates testing of samples with external labs
- Delegates tasks to the extraction technicians and oversees all on-going QC projects
- Reviewing and making product decisions based on laboratory results
- Reviews and develops current and future extraction operations to improve efficiency and productivity
- Audits production processes and works with other departments to ensure procedures and reports are accurate and up to date
- Reviews and approves requested materials, equipment, and chemicals for production areas
- Upholding SOP procedures and documents planned deviations or non-conformities when required
- Maintains knowledge of applicable cannabis regulations
- Assist with product recall or complaint investigations when necessary
- Performs other related duties as required.
Production Oversight
- Oversees human and material resources within the post-production department in collaboration with the facility General Manager
- Follows and maintains department SOPs for weighing, filling, labeling, and storing product
- Ensures all product is tracked accurately within the seed to sale system
- Supervises the packaging of plant material and infused products to ensure everything is processed and packaged in accordance with Justice Cannabis Co. SOPs
- Organizes and oversees the production schedule and maintains adequate staffing to meet production and revenue targets
- Orders and maintains inventory of consumables for production (i.e., vials, cones, boxes, etc.)
- Monitors and administers post production plans, processes, systems, and controls via coordination with site teams and manager
- Continually evaluates workflow to streamline and find efficiencies regularly and works with Director of Finished Product to ensure all processes are consistent with industry best practice
- Upholds quality of finished product by via continual QC/QA on products and processes
- Ensures compliance with all relevant rules for packaging and labeling in assigned state
- Manages Team productivity metrics to ensure output meets productivity and revenue goals
- Performs quality and weight checks on finished products
- Conducts planning for product packaging in collaboration with marketing; and, coordinates with marketing to define processes for new product packaging when required
- Assesses site level systems and processes to ensure each location is optimizing yield to the greatest extent possible
Requirements
- Associates Degree in biology, chemistry or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three or more years of laboratory experience required
- Three or more years of cannabis or related extraction, formulating, and packaging experience with a focus on ensuring product safety, consumer safety and satisfaction, and high product quality.
- Experience with closed loop BHO (butane, propane, mix gas) systems and ethanol extraction preferred; including large scale production sugar/ wax, live sugar/resin/wax, and shatter
- Cannabis industry experience required
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and OSHA standards
Computers and Technology
Microsoft Office skills, including intermediate Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
Microsoft Teams
Physical Requirements
Standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves and 75+ pounds with a buddy, carrying product totes, pushing carts, moving and making adjustments to process equipment. Ability to visually inspect product and equipment indicators. Ability to manually adjust controls on production equipment using fine motor skills.
